Today I met a student studying in Singapore. He told me three things foreign to me. The first thing is "Singlish", the language people speak in Singapore. It is beyond my imagination. For example, the way they pronounce the word "thirty" sounds like "dirty", "three" like "tree". On hearing it, I wonder what it would be like if someone makes a sentence such as "There are thirty students in my class". Another amazing thing is that he started to pick up foreigner-like accent, which throws me into a bittersweet feeling; on one hand, as his teacher, I am glad to see my student's accent heading in a good way; on the other hand, however, I am all green with envy--how I wish I could be one of those children sent to foreign countries in early age. The last amusing thing, though there must be still more waiting for me in the days to come, is what he mentioned about his classmates, most of whom after school are picked up by Lamborghini, Porsche, Ferrari, and so on. snack time...ciao -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 58.114.69.209
