這題應該是圖表題
還需要搭配
"average vehicle occupancy rate for commuters to city...."
從此表中可知 Rate for commuters to Country W = 1.2
Rate for commuters to Country Z = 1.5
Rate的意義是 一輛車 平均載送的乘客人數 = (人數)/(車數)
題目說 (1)[到country W的車輛數] = 30,000
(2)[到country W的人數] = 2倍 [到country Z的人數]
最後題目問說
what is the apporximate average number of vechicles
that transport commuters daily to County Z?
是要我們算出 [到country Z的"車輛"數]
利用 Rate country W = 1.2 = (W的通勤人數)/(車輛= 30,000)
(W的通勤人數) = (30,000)*(1.2)
又 W通勤人數 = 2Z通勤人數 → Z人= (30,000)*(1.2)*(1/2)
利用 [Rate for commuters to Country Z] = 1.5 = (Z人數)/ (Z車數)
Z車數 = 12,000
