Hello my friend. This is a GREAT question. And before we answer it, we have
a couple areas to clarify. First of all, do you know for sure that you want
to stay in your current business? Even, perhaps at your current company?
Because if not, an MBA will grant you a TON of flexibility. By spending 2
years working along-side smart, talented people in an elite MBA program, you
will be exposed to SO many great things that you would never see otherwise.
Who the heck knows where you will find yourself, over time. Perhaps you meet
a smart entrepreneur, and you decide to work with him upon graduation!
Perhaps you take a class in consulting, and you find that you DO like it.
See what I mean? Also, 20 years from now, if and when you do choose to
leave your current company, an elite MBA will make THAT transition much
easier.
So here is how I would say it for you my friend: if you want to stay at your
current company, and you would be happy if 30 years from now you retire,
having STAYED there, then there is no need for an MBA. But if you want to
explore other options, outside your company, then an MBA is a smart move for
you. Even if it takes an extra couple years to make that initial investment
back, long-term it will be a wise investment indeed.
