因為男朋友前一陣子也因為eVerify 的事情搞都搞不清楚還要 Email 他之前的 counsellor 所以我想說把他 counsellor 回的 email 貼上來可能會幫助一些需要的人釐清到底是怎樣 ================================================== Q.1: My question is that is it true that if I extend my OPT for another 17 months,I am bounded to my current employer and the extended OPT will function like my current OPT which means I am not able to switch my job after the 17-months extension? A: No, this is not true. You can change employers easily while on OPT. However, the STEM extension for the additional 17 months must be with an employer registered with E-Verify and if you change employers while on the STEM extension all employers must be registered with E-Verify. You can apply for the 17 month extension at any time during the first 12 months of OPT if your employer is enrolled in E-Verify. Q.2: Should I extend my OPT first or let my company enroll in E-verify system before I extend my opt? A: Your employer must first be enrolled in E-Verify before you can apply for the 17 month extension.
