NTD$8K/month is ridiculously low for a Ph.D. student. The PI should not
be allowed to take any student if s/he cannot provide the full financial
support.
In the US, even in the second or third tier chemistry dept, the student's
stipend is at least USD $1K/mo, not mentioning other good ones...easily
>$2K. I believe most of the Ph.D. students in Taiwan has no problem finding
a studentship in the US or other countries. They stay in Taiwan for their
own reasons, but the PI should not take advantage of them. They should be
supported in full!
Maybe Taiwan's Ph.D. students should stand together and make their
voic heard.
