: 3. Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Boys and girls
: should attend separate schools. Use specific reasons and examples to
: support your answer.
I disagree that boys and girls should attend separate schools. School is
not only a place to attain knowledge, but to learn to socialize, including
dealing with others, male or female. Though adults may think a school with only
boys or girls is beneficial for studying, As a teenager,(>///<) I don't think
that could prevent us from curiosity.
Socialization is one of the essential elements of education. Knowledge is
important, of course, but social relationship could be equally valuable. One
can never learn about the complete concept of relationship without interaction
with the people of the other sexualality. School has always been seen as a
small module of the society. Can you imagine a society composed of merely men
or women? If not, how can one learn to socialize in such an unreal situation?
Some of my friends study in a school without females, which we call 'monk
school.' After entering the college, they don't even know how to talk to girls,
even though they really like some beautiful ladies! Whenever a girl talks to
one of them, he will be so shy that he can't speak a word. As his friend, I
feel it a pity that they never had the chance to learn to be with females,
which lead to the embarassing events like that.
In addition, students will do whatever they are curious about, no matter
how others stop them. Teenagers are especially interested in the relationship
with the one they love. Do boys in a school without girls think they should
pay all his attention to the studies? No! Things interesting to them are never
the tests and books, but the girls in other schools. To know how it feels to
be with a girl, these boys will try all they can to be in touch with girls.
They can always find a way to go out with the one he likes, regardless of
whether parents or teachers permit or not, or if it's a long distance form the
girl. Not even to mention that adults separate boys and girls in different
schools, which can't really stop them from interacting.
Since it's of no use to separate boys and girls by putting them in
different schools, adults should be more open-minded to let their children
learn about social relationships in a normal circumstance in a right way.
