Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? The best way to travel
is in a group led by a tour guide. Use specific reasons and examples to
support your answer.
Traveling is a good way for lots of people to relax, and we all want to have
a good travel quality in the journey. Some might think travel in a group can
save money, however, I still prefer traveling on my own instead of relying on
others. It is because I can schedule my own plan and escape from the hard
sell by the tour guide. Besides, I firmly believe that traveling on my own
can truly feel the local tradition and culture. The details are illustrated
as followed.
Did you have the experience that the tour guide gave the members a full
schedule to travel around lots of spots? After the travel, you took lots of
pictures on the scenic spots, but the memory you had was that you spent
plenty of time on the tour bus. I had this kind of experience before, and I
thought the traveling should be more enjoyable. If I can make my own plan to
decide where I want to visit, and how much time for the stay. The journey
must be fun! During the journey, the plan will be flexible and I still can
reschedule the plan and make the journey fit to myself. Is that wonderful?
Second, if I decide not to travel in a group, it means lots of homework I
should do before the journey. During this planning process, I study for every
details about the city and understand the background of every spot I hope to
visit. In addition, when I am on my travel, I must have a chance to interact
with the locals, for example, for ask for the direction or the nearest
restaurant…etc. By the process, it must be helpful to know more about the
city. In fact, three year ago, I made a plan for myself and have a great time
in Japan. The people there were willing to help the visitor and share the
story about Japan with me.
The last but not the least, the tour guide are often connected to the
commercial activity. Now some jewelry stores provide the tour bus as a
strategy to appeal the travel agency. Therefore, the tourists in a group save
some money for the traveling expenses but have to stay in the jewelry store
for one hour or more to shop. Some might think it is ok, but in my opinion, I
do not want to waste my time to visit a place I am not interested in.
It seems to me that traveling in a group by a tour guide has more banes than
boons. And to travel on my own I can have more chances to go where I truly
love. Besides, it is more interesting to interact with the locals in the
journey than to follow the tour guide. And I can escape from the hard sell
the tour guide arranges. To travel not in a group seems a better choice for
me.
