Describe a custom from your country that you would like people from other countries to adopt. Explain your choice, using specific reasons and examples. ______________________________________________________________________________ Mobile phone is a very common high-tech device using in Taiwan, which is considered as a special custom especially for this rush country. It is not rare that each person has more than one mobile phone on hand, for example, one is for the lover, another is for business, and the others are for friends. This common currency results in differences for people significantly in lifestyle as well as in conventional culture. The main idea of this rising trend is the convenience that mobile phone serves in daily life. People can call anyone he or she wants when walking, driving, or even climbing without limitations in places or time. New lifestyle such as mobile office follows this convenient service, which emphasizes that people can work or communicate with customers everywhere even without having a concrete office room. Moreover, no important messages missed. People do not need to wait a phone call beside the telephone and worry about missing any important calls. Due to their excellent convenience, now people in Taiwan cannot give up mobile phones for a second; they even equip more functions into this “portable handset”. In addition to the convenience that mobile phones provide, the hot current of the mobile also leads several interesting effects such as additional functions and news-in-brief subculture. Fundamental functions like timer, alarm clocks, and games are definitely built-in. Further functions such as cameras, MP3 players, video recorders, and Internet are becoming more and more general facilitated in mobile phones. Even though it is sometimes not available to talk on the phone in public areas, the news-in-brief function can make up this incommodity. In other words, users can still exchange textual message by various languages and symbols to express the moods, feelings, conditions, and so forth, which creates a unique “symbolic-worded” subculture among the youth. Namely, using symbols to make up vivid images to tell the feelings quickly and simply. In short, the widespread application of mobile phones is a special custom in Taiwan, which not only serves the convenience, but also symbolizes the vogue among people. Nowadays, with more and more services provided by mobile phones, the mobile is look as daily necessities more than telephones. It has already changed Taiwanese life remarkably; we are now looking forward to seeing the next generation the mobile phones bring us. -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 140.116.79.191
