Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Telephones and email have made communication between people less personal. Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion. === This topic seems to make a vague statement, “what is the personal communication?” As I could understand, every telecommunication is nothing but personal contact except for non-private use, for instance, official conversations. So, telephones and email have made it easier and faster to connect people personally around the world. These technologies have realized the communication impossible in the past. Following explains why I support this idea. First, these two inventions provide a convenience for those who could not talk face-to-face. The barrier of distance is no more a barrier. Someone could talk or send a message to his friend or family far away by just dialing the number or clicking on the keyboard. Take my personal experience as an example; one of my good friends now works in Thailand. I live in Taiwan and could hardly fly to that nation. I miss my friend so much and always want to talk to her. Obviously, physical contact is impossible for us. However, we could communicate with each other by email or a telephone service provided by Skype. These have made our personal communication possible which might be impossible in the past. Second, with these two tools, I could share my experience and thought with my families immediately. Once I have any problem, I could ask for a reply or a support soon after I send out the message. In other words, these telecommunication technologies have made emotional exchanges faster and easier. These advantages could never be achieved before the development of these techniques. To sum up, telephones and email have made communicating more possible and faster. They are platforms realizing un-interrupted connection with friends and families. So, anyone could share their daily experience and feelings with the one they want. I think this is exactly the personal communication mentioned in the topic. -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 59.117.176.156
