Films can tell us a lot about the country where they were made. What have you learned about a country from watching its movies? Use specific examples and details to support your response. == I absolutely agree the opinion, “We can learn a country from the movies made in the country.” Especially in this globalization era, movies from various countries are available all over the world since the internet and communication technologies help to transmit these compositions. In my country, movies from Japan, Korea, Thailand, Singapore, and even India are very popular recently. They include horror movies, action movies, and comedy. They are not only an entertainment for us, but also an access for us to understand the people in other countries. Roughly speaking, what we learn from these movies are the interaction models of people and some traditions in those countries. Following would list some examples to extend my viewpoint. First, the interaction between friends or family members in my country is really different from those shown in Korean movies. For example, when I chat with my friends, I may never knock my friend’s head when I want to express my discontent with what he said. However, these seem to be very common for Korean people. In my country, this is an impolite behavior. Besides, this is not shown in Japanese movies, either. So, from these samples, I can learn how to interact with a Korean or a Japanese friend under special circumstances. Second, the more movies we see, the more traditions we understand of a country. For instance, we can learn what people wear in the celebration of New Year. Clearly, what Japanese wears would not be the same as those in Korean. In addition, we usually give a red envelop to celebrate the coming New Year. In Thailand, I guess this is not common for most people. To sum up, movies from every corner of the world not only broaden our view, but also expand our knowledge of what other people are doing and what they wear. Though we may never go to those countries, a movie is really a good media for us to understand other countries. -- -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 140.112.27.253
