WASHINGTON (Reuters) — U.S. President Donald Trump said on Tuesday Washington
was considering terminating some trade ties with China, including in relation
to cooking oil.

"I believe that China purposefully not buying our Soybeans, and causing
difficulty for our Soybean Farmers, is an Economically Hostile Act.

We are considering terminating business with China having to do with Cooking
Oil, and other elements of Trade, as retribution," Trump wrote on social media

China has sharply reduced U.S. soybean purchases, which Trump has called a
negotiation tactic.
中國大幅減少對美國大豆的採購，川普稱這是中國的一種談判策略。
Trump said this month he hopes to discuss soybeans with his Chinese
counterpart Xi Jinping while also warning the U.S. may halt a large share of
imports from China.
川普本月表示，他希望能與中國國家主席習近平討論大豆問題，同時警告美國可能暫停大
量來自中國的進口。
China is the world’s largest buyer of soybeans, and in recent months has
sharply reduced purchases of U.S. soy in favor of sourcing from Brazil and
Argentina amid tariff and trade disputes.
中國是全球最大的大豆買家，但近幾個月在關稅與貿易爭端中，中國大幅減少了自美國的
大豆採購，轉而增加從巴西和阿根廷的進口。
Trump has targeted China with a cascade of tariff orders on billions of
dollars of imported goods that he says is aimed at narrowing a wide trade
deficit, bringing back lost manufacturing and crippling the fentanyl trade.
川普已對數千億美元的中國進口商品加徵關稅，他表示此舉旨在縮小龐大的貿易逆差、重
振美國製造業，並打擊芬太尼貿易。
Washington and Beijing have had strained ties for years, especially with Trump
in office. They have been at odds over issues like trade tariffs, technology,
human rights, the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic and geopolitical matters
such as Hong Kong, Taiwan and Ukraine.
華府與北京多年前就關係緊張，特別是在川普執政期間。雙方在貿易關稅、科技、人權、
新冠疫情起源，以及香港、台灣與烏克蘭等地緣政治問題上持續對立。

美國對中國的食用油進口比例極低：
美國主要進口植物油（如棕櫚油）來自印尼、馬來西亞，
而非中國。中國反而是美國農產品的主要買家。
因此「切斷食用油貿易」對中國影響有限，對美國也成本不高。
川普意圖對選民喊話：
他把焦點放在「農民」與「自給自足」上，
營造「美國不再依賴中國」的形象。
對美國農業州（如愛荷華州、伊利諾州）是選戰語言。
