We are looking for up to 3 new members to join HBE due to the departure of
the old ones.
Mature and stable ones that can partake in discussions daily are preferred,
rerults will be announced after 5/31.

1. Introduction:
We are a nearly 6-month-old happy group that mainly focuses on improving the
proficiency in oral
ability via online discussions. Our members participate in the daily
discussions and share the loading by being a host. There’ll be up to two
discussion groups and 6~8 people online during 0700~0800AM every weekday.
2. STP features:
Segmentation:
The significant differences between we and other Skype English groups are
that we welcome foreign participants. While enjoying the exotic experience,
we tolerate the differences of cultures; we seek a great diversity of the
forms of our meetings and the most advanced ways to present them; most
important of all, we have a mechanism that can help filter who is disciplinal
and self-motivated and who isn’t. Competing and cooperating with one another
while learning with them is not only beneficial for English learning but also
fun.
The significant differences between we and other language exchange groups are
that you don’t have to try so hard arranging annoying schedules having
conversations with foreign friends; you don’t have to worry about the topics
and remain silent because you have nothing to chat. Here in Happy Bird
English, we have frequent and regular meetings five days a week, discussing
all kinds of interesting topics provided by people from all walks of life.
Targeting:
Our targeting is brief and simple: becoming an international group with
culture diversity and tolerance.
Positioning:
We seek a great diversity of the forms of our meetings and the most advanced
ways to present them. We value speaking> listening> reading> writing.
3. We are looking for people with the following traits:
Active, talkative, constructive, and responsible. As long as you have no
problem getting up early, can share the loading by being a host, and are
interested in English, we welcome you.
4. Place:
Online via Skype
5. What to discuss:
We discuss a wide variety of topics mainly in the form of discussion. It can
also be a case study, a debate, an introduction, and such. It is not the
forms but the materials you chose that matter. We expect our members to think
deeply over specific viewpoints by discussing, debating, and challenging one
another; rather than simply having conversations in easy English.
6. Musts for members:
Vital information below, please read it carefully.
A. Something you need to obey:
a) Time: the discussions will be held online every Monday~ Friday. You need
to be online at 0655AM and the discussion will proceed immediately during
0700~0800AM.
b) Schedule: you need to come up with your FIXED SCHEDULE as a host and an
audience. Each member has to participate in the discussions AT LEAST ONCE a
week. If you have been inactive for too long or too often, we have no choice
but to boot you out.
As a host, you need to post your topic with a 50~100-word-long briefing, an
article, and relative links ONE WEEK before you host; as an audience, you
need to read related materials before discussions and participate in
according to your schedule.
c) Absence: if you have any difficulty participating in the discussions on
scheduled days, please post on forums in advance. Absent without notification
is a serious issue here; serious violation of the rules will cause the loss
of your membership.
B. Software & websites:
We will use private website and Skype. If you don't have them, please apply
them.
C. Answering questions:
If you have no difficulty obeying the guidelines mentioned above, please
