Stanley, Uncle Ting
An Unbelievable heavy masterpiece—
Our honorable host, Uncle Ting, dexterously conducted the meeting punctually
and informatively as scheduled.
Life Application
First, he asked us to share any tactics applied in our daily lives. One
Blisser used the tactic, “Evading is the best policy as soon as you sense
any emerging danger” in face of troubles. Everyone unanimously agreed Sun’
s Masterpiece was really applicable in love-confession or coworker-relations!!
“Strategy” vs. “Tactics”
“Strategy” means “策”, long-standing war “principles” or “plans” . “
Tactics “means “計” means various the “ways” or “steps” of the war,
deducted from “Strategy”.
Western “The Art of War”
“On War” by General Carl Von Clausewitz (1780-1831) has been considered
Western War Bible which elaborately talked about strategies and tactics.
Ancient Wars
The force powers in ancient China were competed through horses and carts
while in Roman Empire through warrior garments and later in British Empire
through cannons.
Historic Battles
Learning from historic decisive defeats such as Nazi and Napoléon’s
failures in Russia, America’s in Vietnam, Sun’s “The Art of War” has been
widely researched at the desk of generals, business and ordinary people and
commonly applied globally.
Meaning of “武”
The character of “武” shows the ultimate purpose of “war” is not to start
a “war” at the first beginning. Therefore, the best policy is to use “
Strategy” to cease a war; the second best is to avail “diplomacy”,
cooperative with other countries; the last and worst is to call for a “war”
with enemies!!!
Deliberation
It means “careful calculation” before starting a war, which includes 1. The
morale causes 2. The climatic condition 3. The terrestrial condition 4. The
generalship of commanders 5. The marshaling organization and disciplines.
Same as in marketing before launching new products, the “deliberation” is
to modify plans to suit the requirements of changing circumstances with the
object of obtaining the best results. Ex. A Succesful Commercial of “春風”
tissue.
How to use Sun’s “The Art of War”
Most people succeed by simply practicing one or two principles to the reality
until they are internalized as part of themselves.
Reflections:
We felt fulfilled after the meeting because we had a man of wisdom like Uncle
Ting who not only demonstrated us a successful practitioner of Sun’s “The
Art of War” but also would keep encouraging us to do so by next meetings in
near future!!!
