[請益] 翰林國三U3 文法when & while
小的不才，關於課本上的文法when和while研究非常久還是有些許疑惑
翰林版教師用書上面解說：
when句型時機
當某動作發生時，另一個持續時間較長的動作正在進行，此時，when引導的從屬子句
接過去簡單式，主要句子接過去進行式。
例句：When I walked into the house, my puppy was chewing my shoes.
while句型時機
當兩個動作同時發生時，可用when或while。
例句：When/ While I was fixing the pipe, my puppy ran away.
while還蠻好理解的，要接持續性動作的那一句，但是以上兩句來看，
when似乎沒有一定要加在短時間動作(過去簡單式)或長時間動作（過去進行式）
到這邊我的頭腦就卡住了..........
所以意思是第一句的例句可以改成以下用法嗎？
-->I walked into the house when/while my puppy was chewing my shoes.
再來一句
課本例句：When the phone rang, Sara was sitting on the bed.
但這句如果改成The phone rang when/ while Sara was sitting on the bed.
又覺得有點怪怪的....
不知道有沒有哪位大大又更簡單方法來判定呢？
