PhD scholarship at NTNU in Norway on mobile computing for senior citizens At the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim, one PhD scholarship is vacant within the EU research project FARSEEING (“ Fall Repository for the design of Smart and self-adaptive Environments prolonging INdependent living”). The PhD scholarship is offered for a period of 3 years at the Department of Neuroscience (INM) in collaboration with the Department of Computer and Information Science (IDI). The main supervisor will be from IDI. The PhD scholar will do field studies, design and implement prototype systems, and evaluate these in a usability laboratory at the Norwegian Research Centre for Electronic Patient Records (NSEP). We seek a talented, enthusiastic and creative scientist, with a strong commitment to research. Excellent oral and written communication skills are important. Requirements for the position: * M.Sc. in computer science or similar * Good programming skills * A strong academic record with a weighted average grade of master’s or equivalent education with a grade of B or higher, in accordance with NTNU’s grading system. Emphasis will also be placed on: * The candidates’ motivation for the position. * Experience or interest in user-centred design, ubiquitous and mobile computing, and health informatics * We wish a candidate who has the ability to work in teams as well as independently. * Good Norwegian or Nordic spoken language skills (not a requirement) Application deadline is 11.11.2012.
