Recently the hottest issue in Taiwan is whether we stop implementing death penalty or not? Some people agreed with the cancel of death penalty. They were endlessly trying to save all the criminals who committed serious crimes. But the majority of the public in Taiwan were strongly and angrily against the abrogation of death of penalty. The following are both their reason to support their points of view. The reason the public are for the abrogation of capital punishment 1. Nobody has the right to kill others despite judges. 2. The enforcement of death penalty can’t really make offenders repent of their sins. 3. Most of the advanced countries in the world also abrogate the capital punishment. The reason the public are against the abrogation of capital sentence 1. Criminals should deserve sentence commensurate with their crimes. 2. The family members of some of the victims will continually suffer from the spirit torments if murderers are still well alive. 3. If death penalty is abolished, no matter how many people a murderer kills, he or she still cannot be sentenced to death. With regard to this issue, I am on the side against the abolishment of death penalty. Most of people who are for the abrogation of capital sentence are kind and gentle, and we can see this from their efforts for those murderers. But it doesn’t mean that’s correct or better to reduce the crimes in society. According to the third reason of the opposition of the abrogation of death penalty, we can predict clearly that criminals will make more crazy sins if they know they will not be dead because of what they do. That also means there will be more victims caused by the law to protect murderers. For example, in Taiwan a rapist who was bailed raped a woman again, and then he even killed the victim. And in the other countries like America, a college student from South Korea killed 33 people in Virginia in 2007. Should we still give those abominable criminals a chance to live? If we do so, how we console the victims’ family? Conclusion There is an adage in Han, which is that killing the villain is a way to maintain justice. We know most of murderers did a variety of crimes because they lack love, or received much mistreatment from their parents when they were young children. But it is the truth we cannot change. If we aren’t able to reform criminals’ personality, we have to carry out the sentence they deserve to support the justice and protect upright people. Therefore, I think it is necessary to enforce death penalty. -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 111.251.102.50
