first off, "interesting" user name!
I assume when you typed "can,t..." you meant "can't"
if that's the case, are you sure that "can't" was the only thing he typed?
because, given the context, or lack thereof,
it should mean he won't call, after all, why "can't" he go out with you,
when he asked to go out with you in the first place, right?
the best thing is to email/IM him back and ask again, just to be sure.
