Re: [Mind] At the time of crisis..
Yesterday was my first meeting with my supervisor and co-workers since I
started this job 3 weeks ago.
And it is a meeting about layoff.
They are letting a senior writer go, the person they hired 3 months ago.
I haven't got a chance to get to know him and he is gone soon.
Yes, the economy is at its downturn. But what made me upset is the way
the management make decisions like this. It shows they are arbitrary and
they don't respect professionalism.
It made me think twice if I am going to stick to what I like rather than
what I can make a living with.So the senior writer is going to be unemployed
when he has Thanksgiving meal this year, unfortunately.
As for political debate and TV news in Taiwan, it is all vicious cycle.

: So my friend received an unpleasant surprise when he came into office
: yesterday, and before he fully realized what had just happened, he was already
: holding his packaging box and became officially unemployed. That's probably the
: worst present anyone can get from their boss a week before Thanksgiving.
: Just a year ago, we were having Thanksgiving luncheon at a warm recreational
: resort. Ironic? I think so too. I'd probably be the one to get laid off
: if I were still in the States. I'm glad that I quitted on my own.
: Taking my eyes back on the Taiwanese news on TV, I closed my message window and
: continued watching our political debates at the time of economic crisis.
: I wonder what the politicians' and politically biased news reporters' heads
: are filled with?
