※ 引述《ezhik (ezhik)》之銘言: : It happened to me so many times when I made new friends abroad, : they asked me why I have and use English name to introduce myslef. : Before I got those questions from people,I never thought about the true reasons. : The reasons might be following, : First, easy to remember : Second, feel like easy to intergrate urself with others : Thirs, others : But the thing is Japanese or Korean people I know who live in US, : They still use their real Japanese/Korean names. I think giving ourselves English names has become a trend in Taiwan. If you go to English courses, the first thing you do might be thinking a English name for yourself. If you are going to work in international-trading business, you will certainly have a English name. Moreover, many companies from different industries, although not interacting with foreign companies, ask employees to have English names on their cards. It's kind of "rule", that if you belong to this generation, you SHOULD have a English name. The other day I was having a small talk with a newly-known friend from Morocco, and our conversation started like this: She: what's your name? I : you can call me cris She: and what's your real name I : Chiwin She: nice I : you can choose any of these names :P She: first time i hear that name She: no your real name wich i'd like In fact, I would like to begin to use my Chinese name again, like what I used to do when I was living in Argentina. -- Feel free to correct my writing. -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 218.166.201.44 ※ 編輯: Cadi 來自: 218.166.211.215 (07/29 15:28)
