Hi all, Havent been on this board forever but would like to share my pt of view about some new US movies This will be fun. True Grit: An amazing film. It's truly a master piece with great actor and actress. The actress, Hailee Steinfeld, is a bright young star, it is hard to believe that she is only 14 yrs old. Her non-stop speech and brave attitude in the film took spotlight away from Matt Damon & Jeff Bridges' shadow. I highly recommended many people who is intersted in intense movie to see this. You will find the southern accent quite diffcult to watch, but hey, you need practice, right? Personal rating: B+ Black Swan: Natile Portman has been my dream girl forever. She is smart and beautiful... however, this film truly makes me think that she could win an Oscar. Her fearful performance brought excitement to the audience and people get to feel character's fear and emotion through the screen The sound track was amazing with wonderful plot. The movie shoot in NYC around Lincoln Center area, which was great since I live around there too! Anyhow, I enjoy this film very much and be aware that it could be quite horror for some people. Personal rating: A- King's Speech: Wow, what can I say? This movie is just.... wow. The actors have done a wonderful job on putting themselves into the characters' plots. You would not see fancy CGI, but you will take away some memoriable performance throughout the movie. All my film school friends believe that this movie could be the best in 2011.... we will see, its only January now, haha. The movie could be a little dry for TW people and English accent could be hard to understand. But trust me, this is a great movie Personal rating: A Tron: Legacy: Once again, too much marketing from Disney makes a OK movie looks bad. This movie has fulfilled too much hype before the movie came out in US. The CGI was good and some elements could be entertaining like Jeff Bridges played the old character, but it would not take a away the fact that this movie is a suckie movie. Many guys think the female actress(Olivia Wild) but my GF thinks that she looks like a dude, hahaha. I want my $13.50 back. Totally not worthy for 3D. Personaly rating: C+ Inception: I believe that many TW people have seen it already. I just want to add one comment: HOW COME THEY DIDN'T MAKE IT in 3D??? Well, at least not in US. Think about the float in the air part in 3D.... woo, I am having an organism just by thinking about it. Personal rating: A- The Town: This movie is a lil old too, but then could be new still for some people. The amazing part about this movie is that Ben Affleck is the diretor and lead of the movie. Before the movie, I thought that it would be a joke since Ben is not the guy that I usually spend $7.50 on.... nor rent DVD. But the Town is quite entertaining and the robbery scence is quite real. The plot flow through smoothly. I hate to admit but this is an entertaining movie. Worth my 7.50? Sure if I have seen Inception already. Personal rating: B The fighter: A great movie about boxing legand, Micky Ward, and his trouble brother + family. I do like this film a lot since it has been a while that Mark Wahlberg makes a movie is not comedic. Christian Bale did an amazing performance too and not to mention that he lost tons of weight about this movie. Bale's drug addict performance was fun to watch. Amy Adams did bring some best out of her too. I like the overall movie, well done. Personal rating: B+ The Social Network: Last but the least, this movie is quite speical for me. I was the first few waves when the facebook first launched in US. I remember that I was doubting about the facebook since mySpace was starting to lose its uniqueness. I beleive that many of u might have seen this movie too. However, there are more things poping out after the movie. Like the twins in real life is rejecting the initial offers now and think that they have been treated unfairly (greedy pigs) Sean Parker said that the entire movie was fake. However, I still think that this movie does make me feel special since I was part of the history when all the crazy things happened.
