Boston Symphony Orchestra hanged a banner on the street, to response the tragedy happened several weeks ago: “This will be our reply to violence: to make music more intensely, more beautifully, more devotedly than ever before.” --Leonard Bernstein I do have some thoughts, not related to Boston bomb though. What causes violation? There must be a trigger like a poverty gap, uneven educational levels, high unemployment rate or stagnation, and so on. Can music really impair those social problems, or just heal the people who afford expensive concert tickets? I don’t mean that Boston Symphony Orchestra doesn’t serve the poor. However, no matter how loudly you blow your horn, if it doesn’t connect the people, it cannot offer a real healing power to the society. Contrarily, music becomes a label of social class. No offense, Mr. Bernstein. -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 128.125.25.40 ※ 編輯: reedy 來自: 128.125.25.40 (05/01 10:14)

Those who might cause another VIOLENCE.

to, however, the bombing is terroist attack, right?
05/01 15:12, 7F

05/01 15:13, 8F

05/01 15:13, , 9F
with the social problems or inequalities you mentioned
05/01 15:13, 9F

above?
05/01 15:13, 10F

05/01 21:44, , 11F
Well, I said, my thought is not related to the Bomb.
05/01 21:44, 11F

05/01 22:46, , 12F
but Bernstein was referring to the tragedy, and you

referred to Bernstein and his music. your train of

thought just confused me @@

05/01 23:35, , 15F
I didn't refer to the "music" at all.
05/01 23:35, 15F

05/01 23:39, , 16F
Truth is, the one actually needs music to wash the

dust in their mind, always sits outside the auditorium.
05/01 23:39, 17F

Either the poor or terrorist, they are not in.
05/01 23:50, 18F

i am not so sure terrorists aren't in or wouldn't in
05/01 23:54, 19F

05/02 03:00, , 20F
No problem. Either the terrorists sit in and nothing is

changed, or they are not willing to sit in to be changed

by music. There is always something wrong.

Again, music is always good and powerful, but it cannot

approach the one who actually needs it. That's problem.
