A. had expected it to and its business will improve B. had expected and that its business would improve C. expected it would and that it will improve its business D. expected them to and its business would improve E. expected and that it will have improved its business --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Answer: B 從原句得知 company announce 兩件事: 1. its profits declined much less in the second quarter than analysts had expected (E1) 2. its business will improve in the second half of the year (E2) 先不管句子呈現的時態是否正確，但這兩件事如果使用 announce that E1 + E2，則有可能會有句意混淆的情形，句意可能如下: Company announced E1, and E2。則 E2 並不是 Company announced 的一部分，而是單獨存在的事件。為避免混淆，使用 Company announced that E1 and that E2，則可得知 E1, E2 都是 Company announced 的一部分。類似考題如下 (大家可自行練習): --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The financial crash of October 1987 demonstrated that the world's capital markets are integrated more closely than never before and events in one part of the global village may be transmitted to the rest of the village – almost instantaneously.
