Dear Dali,
Thank you for your message. S. n. nivicola is the subspecies that
occurs in the Himalayas. The species nivicola is split from aluco
primarily on the basis of its very different vocalizations, but it
also has notable morphological differences. The treatment of the
nivicola group as part of aluco could only be maintained as long as
there was no knowledge of its vocalizations, but now is untenable.
I have not studies the other two subspecies so cannot confirm whether
they are valid or not.

也就是說，S. n. nivicola的叫聲及型態與其他的亞種不同，
所以被獨立出來成一個種
因為他沒有對S. a. yamadae 和 S. a. ma作研究，
所以沒有處理這兩個亞種。
結論：Clements 6.6並沒有問題
臺灣的亞種S.a. yamadae仍然屬於Strix aluca
Strix nivicola 只有一個指名亞種 Strix nivicola nivicola
真是一個好科學家，有幾分證據說幾分話。
