Book title: How to read a book This is a brief introduction of what I thought of the book after reading it. Text: Written by Mortimer J. Adler, "How to Read a Book" is a book published early in nineteen forty about, as its title states, how to read a book in an effective and systematic way. Briefly speaking, the book classifies ways of reading a book to four main categories. Each kind of reading tip is only applicable for certain kinds of books. As it turns out, the reading tips are not interchangeable when you are dealing with a specific kind of book. For example, how to read a novel could be vastly different from reading a scientific paper. There is also one concept that is deeply stressed in this book. That is, to think actively. Thinking actively means readers must concentrate on their reading, and think of some questions to verify, or even challenge what they have read. What the book teaches us is that never read a book through without pausing and thinking about what you have read, unless you are browsing it. -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 140.109.18.149 ※ 編輯: mingtai1 來自: 140.109.18.149 (01/30 16:54)
