1. Students at universities often have a choice of places to live.
They may choose to live in university dormitories, or they may
choose to live in apartments in the community. Compare the
advantages of living in university housing with the advantages
of living in an apartment in the community. Where would you
prefer to live? Give reasons for your preference.
Some students prefer to live in university dormitories for many reasons.
The rent of dorm is cheaper; the distance to school is shorter; and when your
classmates become your roommates, you can share the notes and information of
classes anytime in the dorm. Even thought there are many advantages of living
in university dorms, I still prefer to live in apartments in the community.
First of all, I do not have to share the space with other people when
living in an apartment. That means I can make my room mass and do not worry
other’s complains. In addition, I do not have to worry to bother my roommates
if I come home late or get up early. I can do anything I want in my room; I
can listen in my favorite music using the audio but not the earphones.
Besides, living in an apartment does not only mean I can have a whole
space, but also I could have better quality of life. For example, there will
be no one that opens my door and talks to me when I want to go to bed. When I
am tired or sad, I do not have a smile on my face to my roommates. I can go out
to see my friends if I want some company. In addition, I can enjoy my personal
space and time if I want to be alone.
Taken together, living in an apartment may be more expensive and more
inconvenient than living in an dorm, but I can have a personal space to do
anything I want to do and do not have to worry that I may bother other people.
Also, I do not have to worry that other people bother me. Therefore, I prefer
to live by myself in an apartment in the community than in a university dorm.
