剛開始練習寫,可以提供我意見嗎>"<?感激不盡! 113 "Scholars and researchers should not be concerned with whether their work makes a contribution to the larger society. It is more important that they pursue their individual interests, however unusual or idiosyncratic those interests may seem." The topic of the importance of scholars and researchers pursuing their individual interest has been overemphasized. Ever since the numbers of scholars and researchers are proliferated, they have claimed for their own freedom in doing research. For many years, it is understandable that people have preference of letting scholars and researchers work on whatever they like due to the sympathy toward these scholars and researchers. No matter how the impact took place, it is certainly that since the science is fundamental to a nation, what scientists do have played a crucial role. However, the statement is somehow disputable in some way. To begin with, the existence of science is out of people needs. Without improving human's life, it is meaningless for science to exist. In addition, scholars and researcher may conduct something malicious accidentally and making the society miserable. To substantiate this point, it is helpful to take computer virus for example. The inventors of computer virus conduct those virus out of individual interest thus produce such a chaos in society. As trying to unravel that working on their own interest, scholars and researchers may contribute a severe disaster and thus lose the meaning of the existence of science. It is proposed that only working on the project which they are zealous toward could the scholars and researchers make a great achievement at and devoid of the vigor toward the research, the efficiency is pathetically poor. Therefore, it is vital for scholars and researchers to pursue their interest in order to precipitate the contribution. Realistically, it is impotent to remember that there are still tremendously large amount needs for scholars' and researchers' contribution such as environmental protection, disaster prevention, lack of food and so on. Only scholars and researchers could society rely on to solve these complex problems. In conclusion, although the topic of the importance of scholars and researchers pursuing their individual interest has been overemphasized, I believe that my statement could have certain level of influence on this topic. When making choices, we need to look for a bit more balance between individual interest and society contribution. -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 61.216.113.207
