在第四段的highlighted sentence我不太了解整個句子的意思，雖然我已經看過中文了。
想請大家幫忙分析一下這句子的"結構"。
Many plants and animals disappear abruptly from the fossil record as one moves
from layers of rocks documenting the end of the Cretaceous up into rocks
representing the beginning of the Cenozoic(the era after the Mesozoic).
