在閩南語裏, 年[ni5; Lian5]字讀本調或輕聲有辨義的功能.
我以前跟著漢文老師用文言音讀王羲之的藍亭集序[永和九年]時, 很清楚也很驚訝地
聽到老師唸Eng2-ho5 kiu2--lian0. 原來kiu2--lian0[kau2--ni0]是the ninth year;
kiu2-lian5[kau2-ni5]是nine years.
以下再補兩個白話文的例子:

On the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, in the second year of Darius, …
I2-se-kiat [以西結Ezekiel] 1:1
Tng sann-chap8--ni0, si3-geh8 chhoe-gou7, …
In the thirtieth year, in the fourth month, on the fifth day of the month, …
在文言文裏, [五月]唸ngou2--goat0 是指the fifth month,相當於白話的gou7--goeh0;
唸ngou2-goat8是指five months, 相當於白話的gou7-ge3-goeh8.
