OSM building models are digitized by hand and these large amounts of information with high use-value. Rafiee et al. (2010) combined the BIM model with GIS digital terrain model and integrated the characteristics of two types of information into shadows analysis. Rafiee et al. (2010) considered that the sunshine can influence energy collection and provide an important reference for urban planning. Gupta et al. (2014) also pointed out that the UK government required fully-collaborative BIM in all public sector projects. It can through BIM sunshine simulation produces renewable energy model and analysis solar radiation acquisition from building surface. This study uses the urban-scale building model for solar analysis to verify the applicability of results. OSM data is converted to IFC, and further be imported into the BIM software. The BIM software used in this research is Autodesk Revit® 2017. Solar radiation is an important consideration in any building that strives for energy efficiency. This study visualizes the solar radiation results in building model by setting different time and azimuths of the sun. We use the results of solar radiation to discuss the feasibility of site selection analysis with BIM building model. BIM's collaborators are mostly professionals, and BIM's building model definition is more complex and detailed to meet the needs of engineering operations. In order to promote volunteer mapping effectively, VGI / OSM defines spatial information categories simply to make non-professionals participate in mapping easily. VGI model is an urban-scale model, which highlights the macroscopic spatial information. However, BIM model is a building-scale model, which emphasizes the microscopic spatial information, such as buildings, interior structures, etc. The purpose of BIM is to construct digital buildings into reality buildings. On the contrary, VGI aims to produce Geodata. VGI is a reverse engineering which digitizes reality buildings into map. Therefore, VGI and BIM are complementary.
