[ Hello, lirqa, are you still there? Hello~~? ] /du du du du......... / Urr...... I'm really sorry to write you back sooooooo late, especially when you're the one that'd call 36 hrs, the actual time interval between our former posts, a "IGNORANCE", and required me to EXECUSE for that. Fabulous, now look at what I've done: a 123-hr interval, I might have to hang myself with my bowels for your forgiveness, do I? I was working on something and couldn't find a perfect time to write back to you. I'm gossipy, and writing stuffs always takes me lots of time, especially when with a language that I'm not so familiar. That's why I postponed writing back to you, from Wednesday to Thu to Fri and finally it comes to the last minute of the weekend. Sounds reasonable & acceptable isn't it? You're not so interested in seeing my bowels,.....are you? Well, I'm only trying to apologize, and am trying to make you laugh. Did you get that? Or am I only being dump again? In fact, when I first responded to your post, that was the first time I dabbled myself to this board, and your post was the first thing that caught my eyes. It's my pleasure to hear you say I've taken your breath away, in fact, I haven't took any other's breath away for a long long time. XD While I still have to "correct" you since I've never watched the documentary that you've mentioned, knowing something about the hottest bands in the rock'n'roll history is one basic instinct for someone who's interested in listening to them, isn't it? As you said, it's a very good introduction to Britpop, and also to Britain for the past decade, I could almost smell it through the film, thanks for recommending them to me. Simply by checking out ur list, I couldn't tell that you were also into the bands that I've mentioned. And you don't have to put your opinion humbly , cos I'm totally with you on that, and I also apreciated their works as art pieces since most of them came out authentic. Sigur Ros dissolves people in the night while Mogwai mildly explodes them, Pulp is your best pal when you want to scoff the world and Radiohead stirs you idealized and ruins you at the same time, going delirious is your only destination and you'll enjoy the flight. Four Tet is not really as impressive as the above but his electronic works were comfortingly artistic and smart. Listening online: http://www.terratec.com.tw/sa/releases.html (wz ie only) Official website: http://www.fourtet.net/site/index.html As for "ECM", I've to apologize for the second time that I just habitually burst it out regardless of it's not really a music genre, unless in my iTunes. ECM was surely about the German lable, and it releases timeless albums, which are always bluring up the bundaries of world music, jazz, classic music and sometimes new age. Here is a personal equation: (rock music) : postrock = (mentioned above) : ECM works The same thing about postrock and ECM works is they're both exploring the posibility of musical expression. While ECM works covers a wider context of culture and seriously selected quailties, only few postrockers have done good jobs. You might have never heard about this lable but familiar with their representative rhythms if you go to Eslite Bourgeois Bookstore often. YES, THIS GUY WHO IS WRITING THIS MAIL IS GETTING OLD. even if only mentally =_=b And the elder have to say something for Jazz, please allow him to gossip on: Not all of them were as easy and soft like Ono Lisa or Norah Jones. Despite those commerical products, most of them were very thick in emotion, and the classics in this genre varies in styles. Miles Davis & John Coltrane were smoky but odorous like drinking whisky straight, vocals such as Bebel Gilberto & Billie Holiday were intoxicant like mixing black coffee with brandy, and pianoists like Bill Evans were just fragile beautiful. The softer side of them serve well as back ground music, and it's doubtless that they were capable to lure you fallen asleep. :p Most of the opinions were merely personal, don't take them too serious. Sometimes experiences could be shared, sometimes they just couldn't. Have a nice day. And help the aged, cause one day they were just like you, drinking, smoking cigs and sniffing glue. XD ※ 引述《lirqa (I Parade Myself)》之銘言: : Hi, Miralles: : All music lovers are welcome to discuss this thread. The honor is mine. The : more the merrier. : Correct me if I was wrong. According to what you say about Oasis, Blur and : Pulp, I guess you might have watched "The Britpop Story" produced by BBC on : Youtube. It's a very nice documentary, you must see it if you're a fan. In my : humble opinion, people like cataloguing things too much sometimes. Music is not : that kind of thing you sort, is the kind of art you may appreciate. : You have no idea how thrilled I was as reading your post. You took my breath : away. I just couldn't believe what I was reading, and needed to wipe my : eyeglasses and read it again. Seriously, I've never expected that the name of : the bands such like "Sigur Ros","Mogwai"and "Doves" would appear on his board. : It's obvious that bands I mentioned on last post were not authentic British : groups; in fact, they're from different countries, Britain mostly. Besides : "Four Tet", I've listened to all of them; Radiohead, Sigur Ros, Doves and Pulp : are still in my music library so far. "Doves" is one of my favorites without : doubt. Basically, I'm in the habit of listening to new songs directly via radio : stations of UK. It's the one of the most efficient ways to get original music : information, methinks. : Please excuse my ignorance, I just found a lot of meanings for ECM on : Wikipedia. I suppose what you point is the record label. However, I'm still : not sure of it. Does it also mean a kind of music genre? Let me take a wild : guess, it's a mixing of classical music, jazz, and a hint of new age, : perhaps. Speaking of which, I believe classical music would be my second : choice if I really get tired of punk and electronica some day. As to jazz, I : have to admit that it's the kind that sounds too soft and easy, one of the : kinds that would doubtlessly put me into a state of hypnosis... Thanks for your : recommendation, anyways. : ※ 引述《Miralles (ineedlove. fromtheworld)》之銘言: : : Hi, lirqa/ : : Good to hear someone's interested in Britpop here, but as far as I realized: : : Britpop was first introduced to describe bands like Oasis/ Blur/ PULP...etc., : : while the bands that you mentioned couldn't all be catalogued to that genre : : (to me), some of them were not so British, and some of them were just not so : : "pop" at all. I'd rather simply conclude them to alternative rock. : : Well, genre arguings were really vapid, there was no denying that you've a : : good taste in music (while Chris Martin was still cool to me =.=). I ceased : : band-hunting couple of years ago, and haven't listened to half of the bands : : that you introduced, perhaps there were only certain "seats" in my mind for : : the rock bands, once they were occupied, it's hard to find a new chair for : : the new comers. Would you mind if I borrow your thread to find some ECM pals : : here #_#? : : By the way, my personal alternative bests were "Radiohead", "Mogwai", : : "Sigur Ros", "Four Tet"....., and rock favorites were "Doves", "R.E.M", : : "PULP", "Wilco", "Travis"....., we don't share much in common, huh? :p : : ECM favorites were "David Darling", "Ketil Bjornstad", "Bobo Stenson Trio", : : "Ralf Towner". Check them out if you're interested. :) -- Nothing | but your Love -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 59.115.87.131 ※ 編輯: Miralles 來自: 59.115.92.61 (09/25 10:58)
