Hi, Miralles: All music lovers are welcome to discuss this thread. The honor is mine. The more the merrier. Correct me if I was wrong. According to what you say about Oasis, Blur and Pulp, I guess you might have watched "The Britpop Story" produced by BBC on Youtube. It's a very nice documentary, you must see it if you're a fan. In my humble opinion, people like cataloguing things too much sometimes. Music is not that kind of thing you sort, is the kind of art you may appreciate. You have no idea how thrilled I was as reading your post. You took my breath away. I just couldn't believe what I was reading, and needed to wipe my eyeglasses and read it again. Seriously, I've never expected that the name of the bands such like "Sigur Ros","Mogwai"and "Doves" would appear on his board. It's obvious that bands I mentioned on last post were not authentic British groups; in fact, they're from different countries, Britain mostly. Besides "Four Tet", I've listened to all of them; Radiohead, Sigur Ros, Doves and Pulp are still in my music library so far. "Doves" is one of my favorites without doubt. Basically, I'm in the habit of listening to new songs directly via radio stations of UK. It's the one of the most efficient ways to get original music information, methinks. Please excuse my ignorance, I just found a lot of meanings for ECM on Wikipedia. I suppose what you point is the record label. However, I'm still not sure of it. Does it also mean a kind of music genre? Let me take a wild guess, it's a mixing of classical music, jazz, and a hint of new age, perhaps. Speaking of which, I believe classical music would be my second choice if I really get tired of punk and electronica some day. As to jazz, I have to admit that it's the kind that sounds too soft and easy, one of the kinds that would doubtlessly put me into a state of hypnosis... Thanks for your recommendation, anyways. ※ 引述《Miralles (ineedlove. fromtheworld)》之銘言: : Hi, lirqa/ : Good to hear someone's interested in Britpop here, but as far as I realized: : Britpop was first introduced to describe bands like Oasis/ Blur/ PULP...etc., : while the bands that you mentioned couldn't all be catalogued to that genre : (to me), some of them were not so British, and some of them were just not so : "pop" at all. I'd rather simply conclude them to alternative rock. : Well, genre arguings were really vapid, there was no denying that you've a : good taste in music (while Chris Martin was still cool to me =.=). I ceased : band-hunting couple of years ago, and haven't listened to half of the bands : that you introduced, perhaps there were only certain "seats" in my mind for : the rock bands, once they were occupied, it's hard to find a new chair for : the new comers. Would you mind if I borrow your thread to find some ECM pals : here #_#? : By the way, my personal alternative bests were "Radiohead", "Mogwai", : "Sigur Ros", "Four Tet"....., and rock favorites were "Doves", "R.E.M", : "PULP", "Wilco", "Travis"....., we don't share much in common, huh? :p : ECM favorites were "David Darling", "Ketil Bjornstad", "Bobo Stenson Trio", : "Ralf Towner". Check them out if you're interested. :) : ※ 引述《lirqa (I Parade Myself)》之銘言: : : Hello, Julia: : : First of all, thanks for your reply. It's a big surprise to get a reply so : : soon. I don't know if you're also the board mate of Brit-pop on PTT. If you : : are, you'll know what kind of music that I refer to. Maybe it's not so : : "British" and "pop" in a way. I admit that Robbie Williams and Coldplay are : : very popular in either Britain or here. However, unfortunately they're not my : : cup of tea. I was into Coldplay two years ago but not any more. Let me type : : some of bands that I'm listening to for you. See if you know one or two of : : them? "Death In Vegas", "The Rapture", "Stars", "The Futureheads", "The : : Crimea", "The Automatic", "Kasabian", "Razorlight", "Lostprophets"… As to : : "the watery elegance", I have no idea what it is. Maybe you could explain it : : for me. Thanks again. : : By the way, guess what? I'm going to join the JLPT in December. Which means : : Japanese is my second foreign language, just the same as you. Maybe we could : : discuss something about it next time. : : AL -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 220.229.67.119
