※ 引述《LeeCJ (奇蒂飄來飄去)》之銘言: : As a college student, reading the original text book is a dilemma for me. : With a lot of professional vocabulary in the text book, : it is hard to comprehend the text well. : Furthermore, my English reading speed is slow, : so that I usually didn't have enough time to finish it. : In the end, I just gave up and turn to the conotes which my classmates : cooperated to write. : Is there any good advice to read the English text books? : After all, those books are so expensive. : Thanks. : ps. Since I haven't written in English for a long time, : if there are any flaws in my article, please tell me. :) Generally speaking, there are often lots of unnecessary words and sentences in the original text book, like some of the books we read in senior high school. The main purpose is to find the main ideas, not for the all materials because of the 80/20 rule! Have the bird view first. Then brouse the contents of a book. Last but not least, pay attention to what answers you're going to find. Skip details that is not mainly for the topic you don't want to know. You're finding ideas, not reading the text book... -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 140.118.234.212

you will have to start by reading "normal" stuff

so you may see "sentences" as a whole entity and

just words. then the speed may pick up, because

you have fewer chunks to process.
