I agree with you even if I am a male.
From another opinion, when people belong to and live in some group,
their inner properties are almost the same.
So, the appearance is still important.
I mean, for example, if the two people study at the same school
and the same department, whatever their rank in that department are,
people outside consider them the same level.
Then, the critical point to determine the victory is appearance absolutely.
