Re: [Ask ] Knock-Knock jokes & tongue twister
※ 引述《ponui (jenny)》之銘言:
: It's an assignment from the professor.
: Originally, he wishes all of us to find native Americans but I just
: cannot find any because my foreign friends are from other countries.
: And due to the time limit, I want to give it a try here. Please, any
: one who has any clue, please tell me how the Americans think and why?
: thanks.................................so much!!!!!!!!!!
i am not a native american... but i think i have a pretty good idea on
what they think about knock-knock jokes.
: ----Knock-Knock Jokes----
: Q1:
: A: Knock! Knock!
: B: Who's there?
: A: Ida.
: B: Ida who?
: A: Ida Wanna. (Ida Wanna sounds like "I don't wnat to.")
: Above, is there particular meaning if the last sentence meant I don't want to?
it's supposed to be funny...
if you don't think it's funny, it's okay,
because it's not =_=
: Q2:
: A: Knock! Knock!
: B: Who's there?
: A: Boo.
: B: Boo who?
: A: Why are you crying?
you can use "boohoo" to describe crying sounds, usually mockingly.
again, not funny =_=
: Q3:
: A: Knock! Knock!
: B: Who's there?
: A: Robert.
: B: Robert who?
: A: You mean you don't know either?
because robert is a common name i guess.
incredibly NOT funny.
americans don't think knock-knock jokes are funny at all because...
it's just too lame.
and all the good ones are already taken.
in the social networking era we are in now,
there are thousands news jokes everyday.
people are too busy trying to catch up with the latest internet meme.
modern humors has to be witty, insightful, and fast-pased.
: ----Tongue Twister----
: What does that means?
: "Rubber baby buggy bumpers."
: 網路上查到的意思是:嬰兒車的橡皮保險桿。
: 不知道是不是正確的.
tongue twister usually don't have any significant meanings.
you can impressive your professor by repeating that phrase 10 times
without making any mistakes XD
by the way,
how much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck would chuck wood?
: ----Appreciating humor----
: Below are some signs which people have spotted in different parts of the
: world; they are funny because of their misuse of English. Why?
: 1.In a restaurant:
: a. Special today: no ice cream.
this is from a swiss mountain inn (cold place)
: b. The manager has personally passed all the water served here.
i guess "passed water" is the funny part...
: 2. In a dry cleaners or tailor shop:
: a. Drop your trousers for best results.
take your pants off, right here.
: b. Ladies have fits upstairs.
upstairs...
: 3. Detour sign on a highway.
: Stop. Drive sideways.
think about what "walk sideways" means.
: 4. In a hotel:
: Please leave your values at the desk.
leave your conscious and pride too.
: 5. In a zoo:
: Please do not feed the animals. If you have any suitable food, give it to the
: guard on duty.
zoo guard is hungry too...
