5. You need to travel from your home to a place 40 miles (64 kilometers)
away. Compare the different kinds of transportation you could use. Tell
which method of travel you would choose. Give specific reasons for your
choice.

There are plenty ways for me to travel from my home to a place 40 miles
away. In nowadays, the transportation is much easier than before, so 40 miles
would just take a while. It depends on the cost I could afford for that
situation. In my opinion, the best way is using the high speed rail way.
First, though the high speed rail way is really fast, it is nothing
compare to the airplane. Airplane is the fastest transportation, and along
with it is its highest price. However, there are many defects if you take
the airplane to get there. In the airport, because of the highly required
security exam precedure to go through the each bag and person, there would be
an extra time waste. Also, if the airport wasn’t near to my house or the
destination, it might take more time to get a connection transportation to be
there. Therefore, taking airplane would be a bad choice. High speed rail way
unlike the airplane, don’t need to do such complex security check, and the
number of stop is more, and the most important, much cheaper.
Secondly, compare to the original rail way, the high speed rail way is
faster. It could save me more time, and don’t have to tolerate the number of
stop that original train have. Even if there is no stop at destination in high
speed rail way, the connection transportation from high speed rail wail to the
original rail way is very convenient. They have set the connection bus from the
stop of high speed rail way to the nearest train station, so the number of the
station of high speed rail way won’t be a problem.
Not to mention, using high speed rail way such kind of mass rapid
transportation is less harm to the environment. Recently, the environment
protection become a most important issue in the world because of the global
warming, and every countries are contributing by trying their best to reduce
the expenditure of carbon dioxide, so using the car or motorcycle is a bad
choice under the consideration of the environmental protection.
In conclusion, compare and analyze the disadvantage of other way of
transportation, because of its convenience, speed, and the environmental
protection issue, thus, I think that high speed rail way is the best choice to
go for a 40 mile travel.
