3. Some people think that children should begin their formal education at a very early age and should spend most of their time on school studies. Others believe that young children should spend most of their time playing. Compare these two views. Which view do you agree with. Why? ================================================================== As the saying goes, “A good beginning is half success.” Most parents have great ambition for their children, so they tried to cultivate them at a very early age in order to surpass others. Consequently, it is not surprising to see a little child speaking English as fluently as a native. By contrast, some parents put more emphasis on their children’s interests. They let them grow and learn naturally and give no or little interference. As one who was educated earlier than others, I prefer the latter aspect to the former. The most crucial reason is that we should let children develop their interests. Under the education system nowadays, students study aimlessly and even enter an uninteresting department in universities, worrying about their future after graduation. Therefore, if one finds himself or herself talented in some fields, he or she has the opportunity to bring it into play. Secondly, if children are forced to learn, they are apt to hate learning. Although parents have the excuses such as “It will do you good”, the constraint still induces them to resist. Learning excessively than others occupies their time with peers, and makes them “outstanding”-out of tune with others. Finally, I think students who begin their formal education earlier than others are still in minority, which means they are younger or much younger than their classmates. Since our mentality grows with age, the gap between them and their peers may have influence on their human relationship, even make them feel secluded from the class. To sum up, even though learning plays a crucial role in our life, we do not have to be forced or force others to learn at an inappropriate timing. Beyond the two choices, the best solution is to follow children’s will and suggest them how to proportion study to play. In that way, children can both perform well on studies and develop their potentials in playing. -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 59.117.177.8
