1. A university plans to develop a new research center in your country. Some people want a center for business research. Other people want a center for research in agriculture (farming). Which of these two kinds of research centers do you recommend for your country? Giving the choices between developing a business research center and an agriculture research center, it is clear that the first one would be more beneficial and suitable for my country, Taiwan, based on the reasons mentioned below. First of all, in a country with comparably small area, there is no much space for farming. Without the basic requirement of agriculture, doing such research will obviously be arduous and probably will end with no significant outcome. Having the need of the product of agriculture doesn’t mean my country has to produce it. Hong Kong is a very good example. The area lacking issue is also serious there. However, by becoming one of the world’s most important business centers, people in Hong Kong can also live well without putting much effort in agriculture. Second, recently China has become the biggest market in the world. Communication is definitely the most essential skill when doing business. Because Taiwan and China share the common language, Chinese, Taiwan has the high potential of becoming another world trade center. Furthermore, Taiwan’s geography location can also help the development of business in Taiwan. However, there are still some political issues lying between these two counties. Under this complicated situation, a good business research center is needed because only through careful handled methods can Taiwan get the whole benefit doing business with China.
