rather than/instead of sb./st.
E:I think I'll have a cold drink rather than coffee.
would...rather(than)[usually 'd rather]/would prefer to...
E:She'd rather die than take your advice.
"Are you in?" "No, I'd rather not"
"Would you rather walk or take the taxi?"
"Do you mind if I smoke?""I'd rather you didn't"
