※ 引述《yihuan (何不食肉糜)》之銘言: : If you were an employer, which kind of worker would you prefer to hire: : an inexperienced worker at a lower salary or an experienced worker at : a higher salary? Use specific reasons and details to support your answer. : In today's world inundated with all kinds of companies, how to choose : an appropriate employee is an important problem for manager. Although : hiring a neophyte at a lower salary seems to save the cost of a company, : nevertheless, hiring an experienced worker is really helpful and : beneficial for a company. The issue of cost and ability illustrate why : it is so. In today's vast labor market, how to choose an appropriate employee is an important task for a human resources manager. Although hiring a neophyte at a lower salary seems to have saved the cost, doing the opposite, that is, to hire an experienced worker, is always more helpful and beneficial to a company. : To begin with, although, the salary of a novice is less than an experienced : worker, but actually you must invest more money to develop an inexperienced : employee. You have to let the inexperienced worker to enlist some job : education, and assign an experienced worker to teach the novice how to : work well. The other condition is that you hire a novice, and then you : discover him or her who is not a suitable employee. In this case, you pay : the extra cost but you don't get a nice or appropriate worker. Although : the cost of hiring a novice is lower apparently, actually the cost may : be higher than hiring an experienced; moreover the risk of hiring a : neophyte is higher than an experienced worker. So hiring an experienced : employee is a clever choice to reduce the cost of a company. To begin with, the cost of a novice appears to be less than that of an experienced worker, but oftentimes the company is actually investing more money in training a new employee, because the company has to enlist the inexperienced in some training programs in order to get them on track. This would cost extra time and money and is apparently a loss to the company. To make things worse, the trainee may turn out to be an unsuitable worker and cause more loss to the company. This would totally negates the idea of saving money by hiring a novice instead a veteran. Therefore, to avoid the risk of paying for an unsuitable employee, it is by far a wiser choise to hire an experienced worker at the beginning. : Additional, the school achievement of a student is not adequate to ensure : the person could do well in job. We couldn't make sure the job ability : of a novice; however, we could evaluate an experienced worker easily. : According to the past recording relative job in other company, we could : judge the person is suitable or have enough ability for the new job. : The situation is like the baseball game, a coach would prefer to assign : an experienced pitcher to play in a baseball game rather than assign a : novice to pitch in a important game. You could expect an employee who : has great recording could do his job well and take the responsibility : to finish his assignment. In the other hand, it exist uncertainty of : choosing a novice to join your work group, you increase your : uncertainty of your work group that cause your group more unstable. : In order to pursue a reliable employee, you must choose a good recording : and experienced worker. Additionally, to judge a novice's potential is far more difficult than to judge a vetern's ability. A novice may have a great transcript, but it doesn't mean anything as far as job performance is concerned. However, a good resume would be another story, and that's what a vetern could provide. Take the baseball game for example. A coach would prefer to have an experienced pitcher rather than a rookie in an important game. The situation is the same in the business world. To reduce the unnecessary uncertanity and induce desirable job performance, a company has to hire a reliable veteran with good record and valuable experience who would be an asset to the company, making money for the company and compensating for the higher salary. : In conclusion, because the risk and uncertainty of hiring a neophyte : are more than an experienced worker, if a manager eager to gather lots : of novice to occupy a company, he would make the company more risk and : unstable. From the reasons I mentioned above, hiring an experienced : employee is a better decision. In conclusion, the cost and risk of hiring an inexperienced worker are both higher than that of hiring an experienced one. Therefore, if I were an employer, I would prefer to hire an experienced worker inspite of the higher salary. -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 59.115.128.21
