第一個limb transplant是在1998年完成的，那是個hand transplant。
後來受術者 Clint Hallam 可以用那隻手來寫字。
但是Clint Hallam覺得跟移植來的手"mentally detached"
自願停止服用抗排斥藥，並在2001年將該手截肢。
