I totally agree with you.
It's interesting that the organisers cannot acknowledge that neglecting the
interpreters do not guarantee a successful event. What leaves me in
bewilderment is that sometimes the events are still badly organised.
The run-down is disorganised, the details are not taken care of,
the protocols not followed, the logistics messed up...etc. And
the interpreters of course are neglected. I wonder why it is so difficult
to formulate an SOP and follow accordingly. Supposedly, professional
PCOs and PR agencies should have tons of experiences under their belt
to come up with an SOP.
I seldom see well-organised events.
: sometimes, in my limited experience, if possible, it's just so much easier to contact the speaker
: him/herself
: that of course is another issue altogether
The precondition being we are given the contact info of the speaker.
I've made such requests before, and was denied vehemntly by the organiser,
saying that we should not "bother" the speakers.
: (I've worked with a number of designers who all have very large graphic files)
And sometimes their ppt made on a Mac cannot run on Windows.
But still, this particular Danish speaker converted his file into a 3MB
PDF, but the organiser chose to evade the issue. What a pity.
