NOT to the clouds, not to the cliff, he flew
But when a storm, on sea or mountain bred,
不飛向雲端,也不飛往海邊的峭壁

Came and delivered him, alone he sped
Into the castle-dungeon's darkest mew.

Now, near his master's house in open view
He dwells, and hears indignant tempests howl,
牠現在住的地方大家都能看到,靠近主人的房宅
可以聽到憤怒的暴風雨咆哮
Kennelled and chained. Ye tame domestic fowl,
Beware of him! Thou, saucy cockatoo,
有些被養馴的家禽,被關起來束縛住
你要注意,比如調皮的風頭鸚鵡
Look to thy plumage and thy life!--The roe,
Fleet as the west wind, is for 'him' no quarry; 10
看看你全身的羽毛和活力
獐鹿跑起來像西風一樣快速,不是牠追逐的目標
Balanced in ether he will never tarry,
Eyeing the sea's blue depths. Poor Bird! even so

Doth man of brother man a creature make
That clings to slavery for its own sad sake.
