Therefore, people who have suffered a serious stroke : on the left side of the brain without suffering any such impairment must have : their language centers in the right half. : Which of the following is an assumption on which the reasoning in the argument above depends? : A) No part of a person's brain that is damaged by a stroke ever recovers. : B) Impairment of linguistic capabilities does not occur in people who have not : suffered any damage to any language center of the brain. 關於這題的答案（B），既非如 Dustin 老師說的結論的爭議點是「語言中心在哪」，跟「破壞會不會發生」無關也不是像 Dounts 老師所說的 (B) 的答案，屬於平行推論的加強概念，對 assumption 來說，屬於外來資訊題目討論對像為: 腦部受損之人，而非腦部未受損之人。Assumption 基本上是不討論不在 argument 討論範圍之內的對象 (Support 則沒有此限制) 答案（B）錯誤的真正原因說明如下： ------------------------------------------------------------ 根據（B）的文字，我們可以發現（B）應該是與原文第二句話有關的第二句： When a language center of the brain is damaged, for example by a stroke, linguistic capabilities are impaired in some way. （B）： Impairment of linguistic capabilities does not occur in people who have not suffered any damage to any language center of the brain. 觀察之後有兩項發現，一是兩句話都提到「語言中心受損與否」和「語言能力受損與否」兩觀念，所以這兩句話內容上是有關的。二是，這兩句話都是邏輯中大前提的寫法，也就是兩句話都可以轉換成「若 P 則 Q 」的結構。原文第二句整理出來得到：若「腦部的語言中心受損」則「語言能力受損」 (Q) 若 (P) 則 (Q) 這句話是後面一連串推理的前提，所以若這句話出問題，那麼後面推理就不一定能得到原來的結果。因此，不能說答案（B）沒有說到「語言中心在哪裡」就將（B）答案直接列為無關答案而消掉。至於答案（B）轉換成「若─則」關係，需要一點邏輯基本功夫：我們看到答案（B）裡有主要子句以及限定關係子句 people who... 兩部分。根據文法與邏輯結構可以知道，限定關係子句是用來說明條件的，也就是「當限定關係子句裡的條件成就時，主要子句內容會成立」。所以將（B）文字整理出來，我們會得到若「腦部的語言中心沒有受損」則「語言能力沒有受損」對應原文第二句所用的P，Q代號，答案（B）是若非 (P) 則非 (Q) 我們知道，若 P 則 Q 的同義敘述是若非Q 則非P 而不是若非P 則非Q 所以，如果答案（B）的結構是「若非 Q 則非 P 」的話，那麼（B）就會是正確的假設。目前（B）之所以不對，是因為其邏輯關係前後放反了，而不是因為答案裡說到了「腦部沒有受損」就直接錯掉。以上，提供給大家做個參考。若有任何不瞭解之處，也歡迎大家推文或回文或私信討論。祝大家考試順利來欣謝忠理老師 : C) Strokes tend to impair linguistic capabilities more severely than does any : other cause of damage to language centers in the brain. : D) If there are language centers on the left side of the brain, any serious : stroke affecting that side of the brain damages at least one of them. : E) It is impossible to determine which side of the brain contains a person's : language centers if the person has not suffered damage to either side of : the brain. : 答案是D 我選了B 請益! 謝謝各位前輩! -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc), 來自: 220.137.0.233 ※ 文章網址: http://www.ptt.cc/bbs/GMAT/M.1407433932.A.E03.html
