所以我也查了一下作者(Francois Cavanna)資料
發現他是個"諷刺文學"作家 左派人士
當年他跟朋友辦雜誌 是專門用來反諷政府的

所以我大約推論 以他寫作的出發點跟時代背景
la chaine 在這裡應該是為了反諷那種自由被箝制住的意念吧
(是我猜的 畢竟他辦的雜誌被政府禁刊 囧)
