Course Description

This course investigates the principles of thermal radiation and their
applications to engineering heat and photon transfer problems. Topics include
quantum and classical models of radiative properties of materials,
electromagnetic wave theory for thermal radiation, radiative transfer in
absorbing, emitting, and scattering media, and coherent laser radiation.
Applications cover laser-material interactions, imaging, infrared
instrumentation, global warming, semiconductor manufacturing, combustion,
furnaces, and high temperature processing.
本課程探討熱輻射的原理及其在熱與光傳輸方面的工程應用。研究主題包括以量子和古典
模型描述的材料熱輻射性質，熱輻射的電磁波理論，在熱吸收介質，熱發射介質和熱散射
介質中的熱輻射傳輸，還有同調雷射輻射。熱輻射應用涵蓋雷射與物質的相互作用、成像
、紅外線儀器、全球氣候暖化、半導體製程、燃燒、鎔爐、與高溫處理。
