原文：　　過年是一種完滿的時節，所有的物品和活動都有特別的結束和開始的意義，大家在儀式中完成好的收尾和起頭。脫離的傳統家族關係，年節就顯得冷清；少了豐裕的食物貨品，氣氛就顯得單薄；若不放肆地玩樂，那幾天的假期其實非常乏味，而且街景稀鬆平常，像隨便一個星期天。正因有了這些累贅的吉祥小東西、疲勞轟炸的賀年音樂，還有令人疲於奔命的返鄉大事飲食小事，人人在冷風裡瞎忙，於是，天地悠悠之間，活著就不再冷颼颼，反而有種切身磨蹭的溫軟。一切事物因瑣碎擁擠至極，溢了出來，忽然就有完滿的意義。譯文： Chinese New Year is a fulfilled time when every triviality and celebration comes to an end and is given a start with a specific meaning. Everybody finishes and begins everything through the rituals. Without traditional family gathering, it is desolate; without abundant groceries, it is lacking; without fun and entertainment, it is dull. The street is ordinary; the holidays are like any other Sundays. It is because of those cumbersome propitious stuff, tiresome celebrating songs, and wearisome travels and feasts, that people are busy in the winter wind. Therefore, in the vast world, life itself is no longer chilly. Instead, there is a warmth of being close and being together.
